We’re going back to our roots. KB is proud to present House Party, the gallery’s 10th exhibition, featuring 15 artists from nearly two years of programming. The exhibition celebrates the community built within the current space as KB prepares to transition into its next chapter.

KB started as an idea in a truck on a highway in New Jersey. It began with a conversation about what a gallery is and what it could be. Inherent to the gallery's function is the necessity of the people who visit it. A gallery simply cannot exist without those who participate in it. Community then became the priority for KB, and since its inception the gallery has sought to be a space where people can grow, learn, and build alongside one another.

Five of the artists featured in House Party also appeared in the gallery’s inaugural group exhibition, utopia, my eyes see me in everything. Dylan Teaford’s Superstructure Magic Landscape and Symbol Fatigue 1 continue the artist’s material experimentation and integrationof found icons and symbols into his practice. The resulting works balance an intuitive sense of arrangement with precise fabrication. Lili Burrow’s Somera demonstrates the artist’s growing ability to depict memory as atmosphere, where softness of composition and playfulness of color converge into an indefinable dreamscape.

Madelyn Kellum and Danka Latorre also return following their two-person exhibition, ride or die. Though working in distinct mediums, both artists share an interest in the instability of contemporary image culture, transforming found imagery through processes that blur the boundaries between reality and fiction, pleasure and violence, permanence and decay.

Dylan Ng’s Untitled (blue) and Untitled (red) continue his examination of the tension between visibility and obscurity first explored in his solo exhibition, Dancing On My Own. Drawing on both personal relationships and cultural references, his subjects appear at varying degrees of proximity through experimentation with composition and perspective. Working on a smaller scale, these portraits compress the figure into the frame, their high-contrast use of color creating a heightened sense of presence.

Over the past two years, the apartment has served as both gallery and gathering place. Exhibitions provided a reason to come together, but the conversations and shared experiences that formed around them became equally important. The artists featured in House Party share a commitment to experimentation, thoughtfulness, and patience within their practices. Their trust in the gallery has been invaluable, and it is an incredible honor to present their work in the apartment one last time.

A party is an opportunity for people to come together and celebrate. That has always been what KB hoped to accomplish through the exhibitions presented in this space. We hope that you’ve all had as much fun as we’ve had.
