Hedge
Travis Morehead
April 10th - May 31st, 2026
KB presents Hedge, a solo exhibition by Travis Morehead.
Taking its title from the hedge as both boundary and living form, a hedge marks division while softening it, creating a space where distinctions blur and new relationships can emerge. Here, the edge becomes less a limit and more a point of exchange.
Using wood sourced from natural environments, Morehead works with materials shaped by time. Through a slow process of whittling, each piece is pared down to a skeletal form that resists clear function or reference.
The contours of the lattice works are carved down to the farthest point of delicacy. Morehead’s patient practice reveals each object at the threshold of its materiality. What is removed doesn’t fully disappear; its history lingers in points of attachment, shaping and guiding what remains. Absence becomes a way of holding presence.
The works in Hedge resist fixed meaning, instead inviting ways of seeing that unfold over time and grounded through sustained attention. Familiar forms begin to shift the longer they’re observed, and value moves away from representation and toward what emerges through careful looking.
Hedge invites viewers to stay with uncertainty, and allow meaning to arise through the tenderness of attention.
